Updated over 2 months ago

Use the following instructions to switch a tablet from a wired (serial) connection to a Bluetooth connection for a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) option.

Note: The tablet or mobile device must have access to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store to download the application. If you have already accessed the stores and installed the ELD Complete app, you may proceed to Step 3.

  1. Confirm the tablet or mobile device is compatible with Google Play or App Store (IOS/Apple).

    • Confirming Google Play (Android) Compatibility:

      • From the list of Supported Android devices, search for the device details by the following:

        • Retail Branding

        • Marketing Name

        • Device

        • Model

      • If the device appears in the list, it is compatible with Google Play.

    • Confirming App Store (iOS) Compatibility:

      • In a browser tab, navigate to Official Apple Support.

      • Check the device model:

        • On the device, navigate to Settings > General > About.

        • Locate the device’s Model Name and Software Version.

        • Cross-reference the Model Name and Software Version against the list of supported devices provided on the Official Apple Support site.

        • If the device appears in the list, it is compatible with the App Store (iOS).

  2. Download the ELD Complete app from the Google Play or Apple Store (depending on your device’s compatibility).

  3. Obtain your GPS tracking device’s serial number and be ready to provide it while contacting GPS Insight Support in the next step.

  4. Contact GPS Insight Support and provide your GPS tracking device’s serial number to confirm that the correct device(s) is/are switched to Bluetooth mode.
Note: The Messaging app on a serial tablet can provide the device’s serial number.

  5. Start the vehicle, ignition ON status, to ensure the GPS device is awake and broadcasting a Bluetooth signal.

  6. Connect the BYOD device to the ELD Complete solution using the reference materials listed below:

  7. Mount the BYOD device following the mounting requirements provided below:
