Users can choose either Diagnostic (supported devices only) or Calculated as the engine hours data source. This allows you to easily identify which data source is in use, control where your data is coming from, and ensure complete transparency and confidence in the information provided.
The system automatically prioritizes diagnostic engine hours but seamlessly falls back to calculated hours when diagnostic data is unavailable.
Supported Devices
The following devices support Diagnostic Engine Hours:
Selecting an Engine Hours Data Source
Users can choose Diagnostic or Calculated as the engine hours data source for individual vehicles within the Edit Vehicle drawer, accessible from a vehicle’s Vehicle Card on the Map page. Each option displays the current engine hours reading, providing full visibility into the data before a selection is made.
Note: If a user changes the data source, that does not impact any historical data contained in applicable reports; however, a user repeatedly changing the data source within a short amount of time may lead to data inaccuracies in reports.
Understanding the Data Sources
Please review the table below for descriptions of the Diagnostic and Calculated engine hours data sources.
Source | Description | Waypoint Eligible |
Diagnostic | Hours recorded directly by the engine’s control module (ECM/ECU), representing the engine’s true runtime. | ❌ |
Calculated | Calculated hours based on total engine-on time since installation. | ✅ |
